In 1999, activists took a stand for global justice and stopped the World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting in Seattle, Washington. Tens of thousands of trade unionists, enviromentalists, farmers, students, teachers, faith leaders and many others worked together to challenge the WTO agenda and catapulted the global justice movement forward. It's an exciting example of people power successfully taking on a major international institution. A new film, Battle in Seattle, starring Andre Benjamin, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Rodriguez, Channing Tatum and Charlize Theron showcases this historic movement and it's opening soon near you!

The film is not without controversy. Some of the lead organizers of the 1999 WTO protest have created a website "The Real Battle in Seattle" to create a space for participants in the protest to tell their own stories about the protest and the global justice movement. What do YOU think?
